Announcing: Customized Accelerated Reader Mini Clip-Charts and a Giveaway!

Do you ever find yourself finding a great resource on TpT, but it just lacks that certain something that makes it perfect for your classroom?

Well, that's the reason I began my TpT store.  I was making so many resources for my classroom just because I wanted them to be specifically tailored to my students' needs or my classroom theme that I finally decided to put them on TpT to see if anyone else would like them, too.

Well, a year later...I'm happy to say many of you do! I'm so humbled and honored that Preslar's Place has gained 295 TpT followers, 413 Facebook followers, and my blog just hit over 100 followers!

One of my most requested items is the Accelerated Reader Mini Clip-Chart.  It's a great resource for your students to use to track their AR progress throughout the year.  The mini clip-charts can be used with clothespins or other markers or picture cards to track student progress.

The mini clip-charts are approximately 8.5 x 5.5, and I attached mine to a ribbon with double-sided tape.  I've also used hot glue which works just as well.  I print them onto cardstock and laminate them for durability as it is the students who use them in my classroom.

I like to use my western-themed clip chart with sheriff stars. Each student has his/her own star and moves them as they reach the various milestones.

As an added incentive, I give away privileges and prizes when students reach the milestones.  I prefer to track passed quizzes rather than points, but however you track student progress, the mini clip-chart can be customized to suit your needs.

The students are in charge of moving their own stars and tracking their progress.  The clip charts make this super easy for them to do! Included with the mini clip-charts is an AR goal tracking sheet your students use to estimate and set their own AR goals for a 9 week period.  There is also a spot for them to record the actual number of quizzes passed or points earned during that time period.  These AR goal tracking sheets are available for FREE in my TpT store.  They are also customized when you order a clip chart from me.

Don't just take my word for it...read what others are saying about these fun clip charts!

Manic Monday at Classroom Freebies!

Happy Monday!

I'm glad you stopped by my little blog today!

I'm linking up with Classroom Freebies and their Manic Monday Linky to offer you one of my free Acclerated Reader Mini Clip Charts and Goal Packs!

I created these clip charts with my classroom and students in mind.  I am limited on space so I made them "mini-sized", but big enough to attach clothespins.  They're a great way to display students' AR progress in the classroom.

My mini clip charts are also designed to track "Quizzes Passed" rather than points earned.  My firsties read "low point level" books most of the year, so accumulating a lot of points is not our main objective.  I want my students to pass quizzes on books big and small.  I'm trying to create lovers of reading while teaching comprehension and other reading strategies.

I added the goal recording sheet as well to this pack so students could hold themselves accoutable for their reading and progress.  This is a great way to motivate all students to meet their goals and work to surpass them.

The AR Mini Clip-Charts are a way to make reading fun in my classroom while "jazzing" up the decor a bit :)

Feel free to follow me here, there, and everywhere if you like my FREE goodie for today.  Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think.  I appreciate your feedback!

Click below to get your AR Mini Clip-Chart and Goal Pack, and thanks again for stopping by!

For those of you who track points for your students' AR Quizzes, here is a freebie for you, too! Both are available in my TpT Store now in various themes for your classroom.

AR Mini Clip-Charts and a Giveaway!

I was inspired after finding this awesome idea on Pinterest this week!  I'm always trying to think of new ways to implement Accelerated Reader in my classroom, but with limited space, keeping up with students' progress isn't the easiest thing to do.

Some clip-charts I've seen are really big and go from ceiling to floor, and most focus on AR points.  Well, my first graders read .5-1 point books all year long.  Getting 300+ points would be almost impossible! Some feel really discouraged, and that's not the point!  I am trying to create readers who love to read.  That's why AR has to be fun!

 So...when I can't find exactly what I'm looking for....
I make my own!

My clip-charts focus on "quizzes passed" rather than "points earned".  It's the way I encourage and motivate my students to read and take those AR quizzes each year!

I included a goal sheet with the clip-charts.  It's something new I want to try out this year.  My hope is that when students set their own goals, they'll be more motivated to reach them or surpass them!  Plus, it'll give me a tool to use with parents and to help encourage students to get reading!

Each quarter, I plan to have a big "AR Stars Round-Up".  This will be a celebration for those students who have met their 9 weeks goals.  We'll do popcorn, movies, sodas, or some other really fun treat!  If that's not motivation enough...right?

If you'd like to try these in your classroom, check out my TpT store or click on any image above to get your's!  Shop around because there will be more styles available by giveaway time!

I'm so excited about these...soooo....drum roll, please....
